Why South Sudan?
South Sudan is one of the world’s youngest nations, yet millions of children continue to face significant barriers to education. Poverty, conflict, displacement, teacher shortages, and limited school infrastructure prevent many young people from reaching their full potential.
The Maale Foundation focuses its work where the need is greatest. By investing in education, we help create opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom, strengthening families, communities, and the future of an entire nation.
Our Story
The Maale Foundation was founded in 2022 by Bijiek Jieknyal with a simple but powerful belief: every child deserves the opportunity to learn.
What began as a vision to support vulnerable children in South Sudan has grown into a nonprofit organization working alongside local communities to improve access to education, empower young people, and create lasting opportunities for future generations.
Today, the foundation continues to partner with educators, volunteers, donors, and community leaders who share the same commitment to breaking the cycle of poverty through education.
